A relaxed community walk for dogs and people who prefer a little more space.
Our Neutral Walks give dogs the opportunity to walk alongside other dogs without the pressure to interact, play or socialise. Dogs remain on lead, space and distance are respected, and everyone is encouraged to advocate for their own dog.
Is This Walk Suitable for My Dog?
Neutral Walks may be suitable for dogs who:
🐾 Are reactive towards other dogs or people
🐾 Are anxious, nervous or sensitive
🐾 Become over-excited around other dogs
🐾 Need more space to feel comfortable
🐾 Find busy or traditional group walks overwhelming
🐾 Are wary of unfamiliar dogs or people
🐾 Struggle with frustration around other dogs
🐾 Simply enjoy walking alongside others without needing to play or interact
Your dog does not need to walk perfectly, remain completely calm or stay silent throughout the walk.
We all have barky dogs and we are all on our own journeys, so please don’t worry if your dog has a difficult moment.
The important thing is that you can safely manage your dog and respect the space of others.
Important: These Are Not Training Classes
Neutral Walks are community walks, not training sessions or classes.
There is no formal training, lesson plan or expectation for you to work on specific exercises with your dog. We are simply walking together as a group and giving dogs the opportunity to be around others without the usual pressure to meet, play or interact.
You remain responsible for your own dog throughout the walk and are encouraged to advocate for the space and distance they need.
If you are looking for structured training, behaviour work or support with specific skills, our Social Foundations or 1:1 Behaviour Support services will be more suitable.
What Are Neutral Walks?
For some dogs, being around other dogs can be difficult. They may bark, pull, become anxious, over-excited or simply need more space than the average group walk allows.
Neutral Walks offer another option.
Dogs walk together while maintaining the space they need. There is no expectation for dogs to greet, play or become friends.
The aim is simply to enjoy a walk alongside a group of people who understand.
No pressure. No judgement. No expectation for your dog to be perfect.
What to Expect
🐾 Dogs remain on lead throughout the walk
🐾 Space and distance are respected
🐾 No dog play
🐾 No forced greetings or interactions
🐾 Dogs are not expected to socialise
🐾 Owners attend and remain responsible for their own dog
🐾 Routes and spacing are adapted where needed
🐾 A relaxed, supportive community of people who understand
Dogs may greet only where appropriate and agreed, but there is never any expectation for your dog to interact with another dog.
What Neutral Walks Are Not
Neutral Walks are not:
🐾 Training classes
🐾 Behaviour consultations
🐾 Socialisation sessions
🐾 Off-lead group walks
🐾 Play sessions
🐾 A place where dogs are expected to meet or greet
You may naturally learn from walking alongside other dog owners and sharing experiences, but formal training and individual behaviour advice are not included as part of the walk.
This is simply a space to walk your dog alongside a like-minded community.
Getting Started
There is no assessment required to join a Neutral Walk.
Your first walk is free, so you can come along and see whether the group feels right for you and your dog.
After your first walk, Neutral Walks are £5 per walk.
If you are unsure about bringing your dog, you are very welcome to get in touch first. You can also attend a walk without your dog to see how it works before joining with them.
Important Information
🐾 One dog per handler unless agreed otherwise
🐾 Dogs remain on lead throughout the walk
🐾 Owners are responsible for their own dogs at all times
🐾 Dogs with a bite history or who are highly reactive towards dogs or people must be appropriately muzzle trained and wear a muzzle
🐾 Please bring water and high-value treats for your dog
🐾 Walks usually last around 1–1.5 hours
These are walks, so timings may occasionally run over depending on the route, pace of the group and the needs of the dogs attending.
During hot weather, walks may be moved to an earlier time, rearranged or cancelled to keep everyone safe.
A Community That Understands
Walking a reactive, anxious or over-excitable dog can sometimes feel isolating. You may be used to avoiding other dogs, changing direction, walking at quieter times or worrying about what other people think.
Here, you are walking with people who understand.
Nobody expects your dog to be perfect. Nobody is judging you if your dog barks. Everyone is encouraged to advocate for their own dog and give others the space they need.
These are not training classes. They are relaxed community walks where dogs can walk alongside others, owners can meet like-minded people, and everyone is given the space to enjoy the walk.
