Social Skills & Social Walks

Understanding Behaviour. Celebrating Every Win.

Supportive group behaviour focused walks for reactive, nervous, sensitive and overexcitable dogs, focused on the emotions driving behaviour and helping you and your dog understand each other better.

We look beyond what your dog is doing and explore why they may be doing it.

Barking, lunging, freezing, pulling, fixating, hiding, becoming overexcited, guarding valued items or finding touch and handling difficult are all forms of communication.

These behaviours may be driven by fear, frustration, anxiety, uncertainty, discomfort, excitement or a need to feel safe.

Our focus is not simply on stopping behaviour. It is on helping you understand what your dog is communicating, recognise the emotions behind their behaviour and know how and when to support them.

At the same time, we help your dog understand you too, so you can begin to speak the same language and work together with greater confidence.

Progress looks different for every dog.

For one dog, a win might be walking calmly past another dog. For another, it might be choosing to look away, recovering more quickly after a reaction, feeling comfortable with someone nearby, accepting brief handling or simply feeling safe enough to relax.

No win is too small.

We celebrate every check in, every moment of calm, every successful disengagement and every step forward.

There is no pressure to keep up with the group and no expectation that every dog should reach the same goal. You and your dog work at your own pace.

Surrounded by People Who Get It

Everyone attending has been on their own journey with their dog.

We know what it is like to have the barky dog, the worried dog, the dog who needs more space or the dog whose progress might look different to everyone else's.

There is no judgement and no need to apologise for your dog. You will be surrounded by a supportive community of people who understand, celebrate the small wins with you and know how much those moments can mean.

How Long Are the Walks?

Our walks usually last between 1½ and 2 hours.

Times can vary depending on the pace of the group, the needs of the dogs and what we are working on during the walk. We do not rush dogs to keep to a strict finish time, so occasionally walks may run over.

Please allow enough time when booking and avoid making plans immediately afterwards.

Owners attend every walk and are actively involved throughout. The focus is on behaviour, emotions, communication and practical skills rather than perfect obedience.

The aim is to help you understand your dog better, help your dog understand you and build the confidence to navigate the world together.
